Is Hapn a good alternative to Samsara?

Yes, Hapn is an excellent Samsara alternative for businesses managing mixed fleets of vehicles, heavy equipment, and unpowered assets. While Samsara focuses heavily on OTR trucking and ELD compliance, Hapn provides deep equipment telematics, battery-powered asset tracking, and indoor Hapn Sites tracking on a single platform, with transparent per-asset pricing and hardware included at no upfront cost on the standard 3-year agreement. Hapn monitors over 463,000 assets for 50,000+ customers with a 4.8/5 rating across 11,300+ reviews.

What contract terms does Hapn offer?

Hapn's standard agreement is 3 years with all hardware included at no upfront cost. A 1-year agreement is also available with hardware purchased at cost. Assets you add later are prorated onto your existing agreement, so you keep one start and end date. Pricing is per asset per month.

Can Hapn track both vehicles and equipment?

Hapn's platform is purpose-built to track both vehicles and heavy equipment on a single dashboard. Hapn uses OBD trackers and AI dash cameras for highway vehicles, while deploying hardwired trackers into the CAN bus of excavators, loaders, and generators to monitor engine hours, fault codes, runtime, and diagnostic data in real time. Battery-powered trackers cover unpowered assets like trailers and tool cribs.

How does Hapn pricing compare to Samsara?

Hapn uses transparent per-asset monthly pricing with no hidden fees, and its standard 3-year agreement includes all tracking hardware at no upfront cost (a 1-year agreement is available with hardware purchased at cost). Samsara uses a traditional enterprise sales model with bundled, custom-quoted pricing that typically requires multi-year financial commitments. When comparing, ask whether added devices start a new multi-year term or are prorated to one end date. Hapn prorates additions onto your existing agreement.
